Quote of the Day?
I don't know which sound bite from last night was better: my mother calling to ask "what's the Midwest like? What's the real world like?" and then urging me to "stop dressing like an English nanny!"Or was it the moment I said "I'm really into cephalopods!" in an unintended Valley Girl yawp. That reminds me: there hasn't been a Cephalopod Update on this blog in entirely too long. I'll have to check in on those wiggly, wiggly guys again soon.

Re: English Nanny.
I think she nailed you.
It must be all that argyle.
I would describe my style with a tag more along the lines of "Clara Bow as Little Miss Muffett."
Nah...I think it's definitely more "English nanny". Maybe "English nanny who admires Clara Bow," but that's about as far as I'd go.
And I can top you for the unintended imitation of a valley girl: I was in Hollywood (shudddddder) last night and wound up talking to these 40 yr. old hipster/rockers, and as I said, "Yeah, I'm going to USC this fall...I'm majoring in Environmental Studies..." and he asked me something like, "So, you want to, like, save the trees or the environment or something?" and I was like, "Yeah.." I realized I sounded like one of those girls. I wish I had added, "yeah, I want to, like, save the baby seals cuz they're like, so cute, and it's so mean when they club them and stuff."
grrr.
